Team Leader
Edward G. Breakell, AIA has been designing commercial, residential and municipal buildings, sites and interiors for over 40 years and is a charter member of the American Institute of Architects. After attending a technical design school, Ed started his career with a design - build contractor in Connecticut acting as designer and civil engineering associate. As his passion for design grew, he then attended the Boston Architectural College where he interned for a Boston area architecture studio for several years. He then served as Owners construction representative for several New England area municipalities eventually landing in a New Haven based Architecture firm focusing on public and private sector educational facilities. Technology sector manufacturing and Biotechnology facilities were his next focus spending over 10 years designing, developing, constructing and managing facilities between the Cities of Boston and San Francisco. In 2004, he founded this small design studio in Newport Rhode Island focusing mainly on nationwide residential projects ranging from historic preservation to large mountain contemporary homes in the Colorado Rockies. His firm, BAM Design Studio has now expanded to the Lake Tahoe area where they have been specializing in complicated and environmentally sensitive land use projects, lakefront residences, extensive remodels, new homes and small commercial projects. Since the Napa / Sonoma wine country fires of 2017 and 2021, BAM has expanded their focus to fire relief rebuilds including new private residences, vineyards and agricultural buildings. Some of the latest projects include a commercial equestrian facility, restaraunt expansion, hordicultutral facility, a library cafe and several Nevada and California residential projects.
